Broodmares
Broodmare selection plays such an important role in the offspring any farm will produce. While an amazing improvement stallion is important, choosing a top-quality stallion for a below average mare often does not result in what one had hoped for.
Here at Misty Ridge Warmbloods, we look for the following in our brood stock. Firstly, Pedigree is very high on our list for choosing a broodmare. It is proven that the mare definitely impacts the outcome of the foal by greater than 50% in movement, conformation, and disposition.
Next on our list is a critical evaluation of the mare's movement and conformation. We are striving for mares that we would want to replicate for their techniques in jumping and their movement for Dressage. As always we are hoping that they will out produce themselves.
Last but not least, we want an outstanding temperament, we are trying to produce horses suitible for the amateur rider or owner.
We are extremely pleased with our small collection of top-quality mares, and love the thrill and excitement involved in chosing the next amazing stallion to breed to each of them. While we all may want to have a barn full of Premium or Performance champion mares, we do know that this just isn't reality. At Misty Ridge, we look for mares that have set themselves apart from the crowd, and feel that all of our current brood stock fit that bill perfectly!

We breed our warmblood sporthorses for temperament, rideability, and beauty of movement. I handle all my girls and babies daily, so it is paramount that they be gentle and well mannered.
